Additional Amtrak runs from Raleigh to Richmond are suggested in the Biden plan

CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) – More direct train services between Raleigh and Richmond and passenger services to Asheville and Wilmington are included in Amtrak’s $ 80 billion plan, part of President Joe Biden’s $ 2 infrastructure plan announced earlier this week Trillion dollars has been proposed.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Amtrak, which would receive the money, has released its plan for improved and new services across the country.

The plan includes the Raleigh-Richmond route, as well as new routes to Wilmington and Asheville, and new connections from Charlotte to Greenville, South Carolina, Atlanta and beyond. Asheville has had no passenger traffic since 1975.
