Canes Game 5: Former ‘Bachelor’ Matt James from Raleigh lets the siren go off before Game 5 in the PNC Arena
RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – Former “Bachelor” Matt James sounded the siren Tuesday night before the Carolina Hurricanes game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
James, a native of Raleigh, was in attendance with his mother Patty and girlfriend and former nominee Rachael Kirkconnell.
“There’s a lot at stake tonight, whether it’s a win or a home game,” said James. “I was hoping Slavin would hear that and feel my energy. We need him in the defense tonight.”
James, who performs all over the country, said there’s nothing like being back in Raleigh.
“There’s nothing like it,” said James. “It’s just electric in here. There’s nothing like playoff hockey. I’m just blessed to be here.”
“We’re back,” said James. “This is Carolina love. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Carolina from this fan base. We need it in game 5.”
James, who founded ABC Food Tours, has a keen interest in giving back to the community, something he hopes he will do more of next year.
“There is still a lot to come,” he said. “We had plenty of time to think about how best to look after our students and hopefully work with the hurricanes and teams like this. So expect a lot of things in 2022.”
On Tuesday evening, Jon Scheyer, who after the resignation of coach Mike Krzyzewski after the next season, will be Duke’s next coach in men’s basketball, also sounded.
