Man charged with chainsaw in Raleigh motels

RALEIGH, NC (WITN) – A man was arrested after police alleged he threatened people at three Raleigh motels over the weekend.

According to police, 27-year-old Jacob Vanderburg waved a chainsaw around and threatened people at a Red Roof Inn, Super 8 and Claremont Inn in Raleigh. An employee at the Red Roof Inn called the police, but Vanderburg left before the officers arrived.

Photos shared by police show damage to the hotel doors. Witnesses told police that Vanderburg was angry about the protests by the Liberals and the Black Lives Matter.

Later that night, Garner police said Vanderburg rammed a Lowe hardware store, broke glass and stole another chainsaw.

Vanderburg was arrested by Raleigh police on Sunday morning. He faces nine charges, including Armed Against Human Terrorism, kidnapping and assault.

It is held under a $ 270,000 bond.
