Raleigh, NC – Fatal collision between two vehicles on US Highway 264

Raleigh, NC (June 3, 2021) – A fatal collision between two vehicles occurred on a main thoroughfare in Raleigh at 11:43 a.m. on Thursday, June 3.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on US Highway 264 around the NC-43 area. A large van was driving north in the area when the driver suddenly turned off the roadside and crossed the median. It then hit a vehicle heading south.

Paramedics and numerous other emergency services were on site. Three people who have not yet been identified were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth died at Vidant Medical Center. The van driver was injured and hospitalized.

The driver of the van has since been identified as Alberto Pedraza III. He is now being charged with negligent homicide by a motor vehicle.

The lane was temporarily closed in the area.

Further details have not been released, but the investigation is ongoing.
