Kure Beach, NC – A Raleigh man died of apparent drowning on Kure Beach Thursday.
William “Bill” Delahoyde, a prominent Raleigh attorney, has died. The city of Kure Beach confirmed his death on Saturday.
First responders were sent to a beach stall near the 200 block of S. Fort Fisher Boulevard Thursday because of a distressed swimmer. Two people were able to pull Delahoyde out of the water.
First responders’ efforts to save Delahoyde were unsuccessful.
The New Hanover County Medical Officer will determine the official cause of death.
Delahoyde had an office on Edenton Street in downtown Raleigh. He was 70 years old.
Delahoyde’s professional website states he was the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina and helped start Trinity Academy in Raleigh.
